The Future is Ours to Direct

THE FUTURE IS OURS TO DIRECT.

Earlier this week, I wrote to you about the crisis of beauty we’re going through. To me, that’s connected to some of the other problems we’re seeing globally. Read the essay to find out more on that.

With the onslaught of bad news, it can feel like hope is a scarce commodity at present. What’s going on in the world feels disheartening. I believe it serves the purpose of drawing out everything that’s not working on a global scale, so we can get to a place of better.

Irrespective on where you stand on that, here is a quote I want to share with you I rediscovered in my quote stash earlier this week:

Each act, each decision, and each development
creates new possibilities and eliminates others.

Even though things can feel overwhelmingly dire at times, I like that this quote reminds us of our agency. The future is indeed ours to direct. I strive to remind myself of that constantly. We have agency.
